Transmissions From Avalon is an epic return to the halcyon sound of the early 1990s, meticulously curated and sublimely mixed by DJ Basilisk. This 4 hour journey features tracks produced up until 1996, building from moody ambient, scintillating IDM, and hypnotic techno into acidic and full-on Goa trance, culminating at 150 BPM. Descending from the heights, the mood becomes more tribalistic and transcendent, thickening the vibe with various permutations of progressive trance and euphoric house before unwinding with hazy breakbeats and soothing drones.

All released copies of South contain clicks; these were removed for this mix.
Juddervision was only released in 2013 but was produced alongside Darren Beale no later than 1996 according to the liner notes.
The version of Youth of the Galaxy that appears here is a combined edit of both Yoof of the Galaxy (the more stripped down beginning) and Youth of the Galaxy (Final Demand Mix). The former is way easier to mix but the latter has an explosive climax I really wasn’t willing to do without.
Caraman is an extraordinarily strange track with a structure that makes it pretty much unmixable. The edit featured here is restructured at several points in addition to being declicked and remastered.
Some production credits of interest to old school electronic music lovers: CTI is the more ambient and cinematic side project of Chris & Cosey; YMO is Yellow Magic Orchestra trying their hands at techno (with this specific track produced by Haruomi Hosono); Superluminal was co-produced by Martin Freeland AKA Man With No Name; Juddervision was produced alongside Darren Beale, later of Kosheen and more recently Dubspeeka; Brain Accent is better known as Tim Schuldt; and Muvment features Achim Schlafke of Biot.
Soma’s Soma Romanz was regrettably cut at the very last minute.
Approximately 30 of these tracks have some association with the United Kingdom (and hence “Avalon”).
