Basilisk casts a wide net on Intangible Frontiers 2, his latest mix exploring the borderlands of musical subcultures at the deeper end of the electronic music spectrum, from 100 to 125 BPM. Blurring the boundaries between dub techno, dark disco, EBM, worldbeat, progressive trance, afro-house, balearic breaks, chill out, and new age ambient, this mix features a dazzling variety of 46 selections you would never hear combined by anyone else. As always, smooth harmonic mixing and diligent post-production ensure a seamless, high-quality journey into hypnotic and entactogenic worlds of sound.

Conceived, designed, mixed, and mastered by DJ Basilisk in Taipei, Taiwan, February 2023.
Recorded in several sessions using Traktor 3 and a Korg Nanokontrol.
Mastered in Ableton Live using TDR Nova and LoudMax; wave surgery conducted with Audacity.
This project came together fairly quickly; from conception to recording it was only around a week or so.
As with the previous entry in this series my goal was to blend influences from many different musical traditions as well as electronic music subcultures. European, African, Middle Eastern, South Asian, and East Asian references can all be heard at various points.
The opening track is at 100 BPM and the mix only grazes 125 BPM with some of the breakbeat tunes in the final hour.

Jungle Deep is extremely compressed, making it super hard to mix, but I really enjoy how hard-hitting it is for a tune at 112 BPM.
Marc Romboy’s remix of Time Tourism is one of my all-time favorite tracks by him.
I wasn’t expecting to fit any Techgnosis Records material into this mix given the slow tempo—but Biosmosis, one of the deepest tunes in the catalogue, made the cut.
Have I previously mentioned how difficult it is to fit Tipper into any mix? His production value is simply off the chart, and it makes everything else sound weak. Vection is a tough act to follow but Wolf Tech blends well enough.
